Diff uses your device's camera to display and record a real-time visual effect. Camera frames are processed live on your device and are only written to a video if you choose to record and export one. Camera data is never transmitted anywhere.
Diff does not use facial recognition and does not detect, identify, map, or build a model of any face. It uses no face-tracking or face-detection technology and creates no faceprint or face template. If you point the camera at a face, those frames — and, when the optional Depth Mode is enabled, a depth map from the TrueDepth camera — are processed live on your device to render the visual effect, the same as any other camera frame. Nothing facial is analyzed for identity, stored as face data, retained separately, or shared with anyone. All processing is on-device; the app has no network connection.
Diff uses your device's microphone to record audio as part of the videos you capture. Audio is recorded only while a recording is in progress, is written into the video file on your device, and is never transmitted anywhere. If you don't grant microphone access, recordings are simply saved without audio.
Diff requests add-only access to your photo library for the sole purpose of saving videos you choose to export. Diff cannot read, browse, or access your existing photos or videos.
Your in-app preferences (effect parameters and similar settings) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. They never leave your device.
Diff contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking technologies. It does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Diff does not share data with third parties, because it does not collect any.
Diff does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
